Residency in Andorra
Under the current European Economic climate, an Andorran Residency can offer
many fiscal advantages. The “Residencia Passiva” is the
most sought after. The other residency available to members EU Countries
is the Workers Residency, which allows the holder to work within Andorra.
Passive Residency
The Passive Residency is the ideal way of obtaining resident status
in Andorra, hence benefiting from the Country’s fiscal policies,
and having relative freedom of movement. It is required that Passive
Residents actually reside in Andorra for a minimum of 183 days per year,
but apart from this commitment the Passive Resident has very few other
obligations. The Andorran Government has recently revised the Passive
Residency Laws and have henceforth implemented a quota system. Only
500 passive residency positions are currently available (March 2007).
To become a Passive Resident it is necessary to have the following documents
in order:
- Proof of an Address in Andorra
- Proof of a minimum annual income of €31 120.00 ( A local
Bank can supply this documentation.
- Proof of insurance covering, Health, Life, Invalidity and a
Pension Plan.
- A Data Protection Certificate from every place of Residents
from the age of 18. This document must carry the Apostil of the Treaty
of the Hague if it is sourced from outside of Spain, France, Portugal
or the United Kingdom. If the Country is not a member of the Hague Treaty,
the document must be legalized for international use by the Ministery
of Foreign affairs.
- A Certificate of your Civil Status ( In the case of married
couples both wanting residency this document must be updated and carry
the apostil of the Treaty of the Hague. )
- 1 Recent Passport Photo.
- A Current and Valid Passport
You will also be asked to sign the following documents:
- A Declaration of your intention to spend the required 183 days
in Andorra. ( These need not be in one block, but spread out throughout
the year!)
- A Declaration stating that you have respected the laws of all
other countries to which you have visited, but not resided in.
After your dossier is completed and reviewed by the Immigration Department,
you will have to complete a routine health check, consisting of a Blood
Test and a Chest X-Ray.
Once the documentation and the results of the health examination have
been approved you will be asked to pay €30 000.00 deposit into
an Andorran Government Escrow Account. ( + €7000.00 per family
member who also receives residency )
