Great news for the Principality!!, The Generalitat de Catalunya (the Catalan Government) has taken the important first step in the long coming awaited process of the construction of the International Airport of the Pyrenees. The Generalitat has adquired 85% of the land for construction of the Airport in La Seu d'Urgell, a neighbouring village of Andorra. The construction of an airport 14 kms from the Andorran border will be a fundamental improvement for the Principality in all aspects. The airport will be administrated by Spanish and Catalan Governments in co-operation with the Government and the Principality of Andorra.

The new road from Oliana to Adrall has cut half an hour off the route Andorra - Barcelona. The new tunnel "Pont Pla" connecting La Massana and Andorra la Vella, has returned complete fluidity to daily transport within the country. The works of the tunnel between Encamp and Anyòs are developing really fast and the Government is projecting completion for late 2009.

Property prices are forecast to rise in 2007 by a further 11% according to official statistics which also show that the average price per m² for new built property is currently standing at 6.000 €.

Holiday Accommodation Agencies are having a stand up confrontation with the Ministry of Tourism over the implementation of legislation governing the standards and facilities this kind of holiday apartment must offer to tourists. The government maintains that the legislation was passed in 2001 and these agencies have had ample time to adapt to the new law. Their overall objective is to improve the image and raise the standard of Andorra as a tourist destination.

In statistics recently released, Andorra now has the highest life expectancy for any country in the world for both Men (80.62 years) and Women (86.62 years) with an overall average of 83.52 years. With a warm and dry climate, fresh air and water attributing to this statistic, it makes a mockery of one of Benjamin Franklin's most famous sayings: "But in this world nothing can be said to be certain but Death and Taxes" (1879).
